Baptism is the first Sacrament celebrated in the process of becoming a full member in the Catholic Church. The waters of Baptism symbolize life and death, washing and cleansing, and the mystery of new life out of death. Through Baptism, we are reborn as sons and daughters of God. At the baptism of a child (or any person), we celebrate and reflect on God's unconditional love. Baptism welcomes the person into our faith. 

 

Baptism’s Requirements

1. Parents must be registered members of the parish or live in the city of Tulare. If not, they will need to get a permission letter from their home parish.

 

2. One of the parents needs to be at least baptized in the Catholic Church.

 

3. Godparents must have received the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation. Godparents must be practicing Catholics. If Godparents are married, they must be married in the Catholic Church. Per Cannon Law of the church, people who are living together or married only civilly by the state and not by the Catholic Church cannot be godparents.

 

4. Godparents: Must be a MALE and a FEMALE, or the child can have just one godparent that fulfills all the requirements. No more than two godparents are allowed.

 

5. Baptismal Information Form (Must be filled in the Parish Office. Only the parents or the legal guardian can request the Sacrament of Baptism).

 

6. The child must be 6 years old or younger. Please bring the Child’s Birth Certificate at the time of registration.

7. The parents and godparents will need to attend an in person pre-baptismal class. When the parents come to register the child, a date for the class will be given at that time.  The parents are responsible to share the pre-baptismal class date with the godparents. 

 

8. Fee: $100.00 per child, cash & checks only.  If you cancel at any time, there will be NO REFUNDS. 

 

9. All Baptisms are at 9:00 am on a designated Saturday. Parents and godparents must arrive at 8:30 am because the baptism will begin promptly at 9:00 am.  Baptisms are inside the church. On the day of the baptism, please bring  a candle and the child must wear a white garment.

10. All baptisms will be at the old St. Rita's Church: 954 South O Street Tulare CA 93274.

El bautismo es el primer sacramento celebrado en el proceso de convertirse en miembro de pleno derecho 

la iglesia Católica. Las aguas del Bautismo simbolizan la vida y la muerte, el lavado y la limpieza, y el misterio de la nueva vida de la muerte. A través del Bautismo, renacemos como hijos e hijas de Dios. En el bautismo de un niño (o cualquier persona), celebramos y reflexionamos sobre el amor incondicional de Dios. El bautismo da la bienvenida a la persona en nuestra fe.

 

Requisitos para Bautizo

1. Los padres deben ser miembros registrados de la Iglesia o vivir en la ciudad de Tulare, si no viven en la ciudad de Tulare, los padres deberán presentar un permiso otorgado por su Iglesia local.

 

2. Uno de los padres deberá estar por lo menos bautizado en la Iglesia Católica.

 

3. Los padrinos deben ser Católicos Practicantes. Si están casados, deben además estar casados por la Iglesia Católica. Los padrinos deben haber recibido los Sacramentos de Bautizo, Primera Comunión y Confirmación. Según la Ley Canónica de la iglesia, las personas que viven juntas o casadas solo civilmente por el estado y no en la iglesia Católica no pueden ser padrinos.

 

4. Para los padrinos debe ser un hombre y una mujer, o puede ser solamente un padrino que cumpa con todos los requisitos. No se permiten más de dos padrinos.

 

5. Formulario de Información Bautismal (Debe ser llenado en la Oficina Parroquial. Sólo los padres o guardián legal pueden solicitar el Sacramento de Bautizo)

 

6. El niño no debe tener más de 6 años. Por favor traer el Certificado/Acta de Nacimiento del niño(a) al momento de la inscripción.

​

7. Los padres y padrinos deberán asistir a una clase pre-bautismal presencial. Cuando los padres vengan a inscribir al niño, se dará una fecha para la clase en ese momento. Los padres son responsables de compartir la fecha de la clase pre-bautismal con los padrinos.

8. Costo: $100.00, aceptamos dinero en efectivo y cheques solamente. Si cancela en cualquier tiempo NO HABRÁ REEMBOLSO. 

 

9. Todos los bautismos son a las 9:00 AM en un sábado designado. Los padres y padrinos tendrán que llegar a las 8:30 am porque el bautizo comenzará puntualmente a las 9:00 am. Los bautismos son dentro de la iglesia. El día del bautismo, por favor traiga una vela y el niño debe usar una prenda blanca.

10. El bautizo será en la nueva iglesia vieja de Santa Rita: 954 South O Street Tulare CA 93274.
